Some time ago in the heart of Silicon Valley, Sashi and Syam -- the founders of Qwiky's -- were discussing the increasingly competitive world that we all find ourselves coping with from day to day. We seemed to have grown accustomed to the marvels of technology that allow us to conduct almost instantaneous business and social communication with people around the globe. Amazingly, however, we might never have the opportunity to meet to share food and conversation with most of these impersonal contacts. We thought of the contrast offered by cities like San Francisco, Paris and Vienna. How have these places guarded and retained the civil attitude and romantic air of the earlier time? Our concept for a neighborhood meeting place grew out of these musings regarding the world around us. We designing Qwiky's, a heaven where our guests can sit back, relax, reconnect with neighbors and make new friends while enjoying specialty coffees and other simple pleasures of life in a friendly low-key environment......."Because the World Can Wait ™".

We incorporated Qwiky's corporation and began developing our ideas to open in various urban locations around the united states including California, Illinois, Massachusetts and North Carolina. Our discussions with friends and knowledgeable consultants revealed that cities in various countries around the world might be equally ready to serve as a providing ground for our concept. An article in a prestigious specialty coffee magazine alerted us to the fact that our home country India, might in fact be an ideal start-up location. We shifted our sights to India and injected basic business realities regarding market share, revenue and profitability - learned from our previous entrepreneurial experiences in to this adventure. Several short months later, with the tremendous support from friends and business colleagues, the flagship location of Qwiky's - the first specialty Coffee chain in India - opened in Chennai on Oct 1, 1999.

Where are we headed? Chimayo Chains (p) Ltd., will develop the market in the Indian sub continent as a master franchisee for the region. At the same time, Qwiky's corporation is actively building its presence in the United States. We are also in active negotiation to open in Indonesia, Singapore and other locations under franchising agreements with entrepreneurs who share our vision. While our guests enjoy the highest quality products and service in a friendly neighborhood environment, we would be foolish to ignore the technology that surround us. Behind the scenes, we will use our experience from the software industry to develop the state-of-the-art franchising management and electronic commerce programs to support the Qwiky's network around the world.
